A Navy veteran who had his luggage stolen at a bus stop and his upper complete denture and lower partial denture were in the luggage. The veteran was forced to go without any dentures for four years. This veteran received a complete upper denture and lower removable denture fabricated in Winter 2019. The veteran stated that having teeth again was the best Christmas present he could ever receive!
An Army veteran’s lower complete denture was fractured beyond repair. He was wearing his upper denture only for esthetics and eating his food with no teeth. He now has a complete upper and lower denture.
A transgender Army veteran who suffers from gender dysphoria. She stated that she has a difficult time going to public places, including dental offices. Through Smiles for Veterans, she received a dental screening and stated that she felt very comfortable with the student and faculty volunteers. She became a TUSDM patient under the condition that her student volunteer would be her dental provider. She received her first dental cleaning in over 5 years, obtained 5 fillings, and had her molar teeth treated along with post and core, and then a crown to save the tooth from being extracted.
