If you are the typical Fletcher candidate, you are at a crossroads in a complex journey. Your travels thus far have included a strong undergraduate education, in all likelihood a few years of work experience and a general idea about what you think you would like to do long term. Your graduate degree is a critical next step – a catalyst – in your transformation, but figuring out which path(s) to take during and after your Fletcher degree might seem a little daunting.
Not to the Office of Career Services (OCS). We anticipate that anxiety and look forward to partnering with you as you discover the journey that will be unique for you. We have a rich body of experience and knowledge in helping students like you pull together the information you need to chart your own course.
Our mission is to help empower students to realize life-long career success through education, networking and coaching.
We partner with students in three primary areas:
- We provide resources, events, presentations, briefings, technology, and networking opportunities to help you explore your career options
- We offer professional development programs and workshops, as well as 1-on-1 coaching to help you develop the professional skills necessary for creating the types of opportunities you seek in your targeted field
- We maximize employment opportunities by targeted, pro-active outreach, marketing and on-going relationship management with organizations of interest to Fletcher students
Fletcher takes your career success as seriously as you do. That is why we have a required career program – the Professional Development Program (PDP) – for all first year MALD, MGA, and MIB students which meets every Friday morning during your first semester. We have built time into the academic calendar with no other class conflicts so that every student is able to dedicate time each week to creating and executing a personalized career search program while here at Fletcher. PDP takes a holistic approach to career management and introduces students to a portfolio of essential professional skills. The interactive course is taught by the OCS team. We provide detailed instruction on specific aspects of job searching, like resume and cover letter writing, networking, and professional communication, while staying focused on the bigger picture of the fluid and ongoing process that is career management. The goal is to supply you with the insights, recommendations, and best practices that you can use to ensure you are on the right track with the various steps in your job searching, the job application process, and your continuing career path.
