Orientation Information

Orientation is designed to assist you in your transition to Fletcher. The information sessions and workshops will help familiarize you with Fletcher and Tufts and aid in planning your academic program. The social activities will also offer opportunities to meet and start building relationships with your classmates.

Orientation Schedule

January 2022 Orientation, which runs from January 11-13, 2022 is mandatory as information will be covered that is not offered at other times of the year (GMAP and GBA students are not required to attend)

The full schedule with Zoom links is available here.

In anticipation of your virtual orientation, activate your Tufts Zoom account before January 11, 2022 to ensure that you can participate fully.

The Student Accessibility and Academic Resource (StAAR) Center provides reasonable accommodations to ensure students with disabilities can access and participate in orientation. If the virtual format presents any accommodation needs, contact the StAAR Center at StAARCenter@tufts.edu as soon as possible to complete the registration process.

In the meantime, please review the Welcome to Orientation webpage, which contains a resource guide for your first week at Fletcher and beyond.

If you have any questions about orientation or student life, contact FletcherStudentAffairs@tufts.edu. For questions about your academic program, contact FletcherRegistrar@tufts.edu.

COVID-19 Policies

All students must follow COVID-19 policies while on campus. In particular, students must ensure that they wear masks indoors.  Everyone must wear  disposable 3-ply or high quality KN95 masks and replace them daily or sooner if they get wet or dirty.

COVID-19 Arrival Testing Information

In order to attend their Spring Term 2022 courses in person, students must receive a negative COVID-19 test from an on campus testing facility prior to accessing campus. Specific arrival testing instructions are determined by whether you are fully vaccinated by your arrival date:

  • Fully-vaccinated students must take their first COVID-19 test at Tufts at least one day prior to accessing campus.
  • Students who are not fully vaccinated will be required to quarantine for 7-10 days prior to accessing campus. Students who are not fully vaccinated should have contacted FletcherStudentAffairs@tufts.edu by December 15, 2021 for further instructions.
  • Students who have tested positive within 90 days of their arrival to test must email COVIDTesting@Tufts.edu to be removed from the testing protocol for 90 days following their positive test.

All students must take their COVID-19 test at a Tufts testing center; they may not use a test taken off campus. Please see the following webpages for further information: Testing at TuftsTesting LogisticsTesting Calendar & Hours.

Equivalency Exam Information

The E201, E210M, and B205 Equivalency Exams will be administered during Orientation. These equivalency exams are administered, without exception, only twice during the academic year.

    • You are strongly encouraged to take the equivalency exams during your first semester; if you miss the equivalency exams, please note the next time the equivalency exams will be administered is the spring semester.
    • For more information and details about how to best prepare for the equivalency exams, please review the equivalency exams information section.

Digital Platforms at Fletcher

We recommend that incoming students familiarize themselves with the different digital platforms that are regularly used at Fletcher. Please note that some platforms will not be accessible to incoming students until early-mid January.
