Why I chose Fletcher: In the realm of humanitarian and development work, my problem is that I am interested in absolutely everything. So when considering different graduate programs, I was looking for a school that could offer me the chance to learn new things, while gaining a deeper and more layered understanding of issues that I’d been exposed to in the field. I was drawn immediately to Fletcher’s flexible curriculum and its commitment to interdisciplinary studies, which allows me to personalize my educational experience. I plan to explore a new field in development economics, while also specializing in international education policy through courses at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Another huge pull was the Fletcher community, which consists of some of the most interesting and passionate people I have met.

What has been unique about Fletcher:  A unique aspect of Fletcher is its emphasis on collaboration and teamwork, both inside and outside of the classroom. While people here are driven, they are also more than willing to go out of their way to help their fellow classmates. There is a lack of that competitive tension that pervades many similar graduate programs.
