The Children’s Television (CTV) Project is a longstanding research program based out of the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University.
Television is a major force in children’s lives, and we think it is important to uncover the different representations of gender, race, ethnicity, and age that children are exposed to on a regular basis.
Our (still evolving) findings suggest that the demographics of characters portrayed on popular children’s television programming present a very different picture than the actual demographics that exist in our country.
