Two postdoctoral positions in green ironmaking!
The Davis Laboratory is hiring two postdoctoral scholars for DOE-supported ironmaking innovation.
Projects: Reducing iron oxides and iron ores with ammonia.
- One project, supported by the DOE’s Industrial Technologies Office, is exploring reduction of iron ore pellets with ammonia.
- The other project, supported by ARPA-E under the Revolutionizing Ore-to-Steel to Impact Emissions (ROSIE) program, is exploring reduction of iron ore concentrates, fines, and wastes with ammonia.
Requirements: A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related discipline, and relevant laboratory research experience.
Responsibilities:
- designing, constructing, and operating chemical reactors;
- designing and testing gas recirculation units;
- analyzing the gaseous products of chemical reactions using mass spectrometry;
- analyzing the solid products of chemical reactions using SEM, EDS, XPS, AES, XRF, pXRD, or ICP;
- writing reports, proposals, papers, and presentations;
- working with, training, or supervising graduate or undergraduate research students;
- performing project management tasks;
- presenting work at meetings and conferences.
