Black Legacy Dinner Celebration to Mark Black History Month (From Dean Karimbux’s Report)

This past weekend the Tufts Student National Dental Association (SNDA) celebrated black excellence at the Black Legacy Dinner, which aligns with our celebration of the achievements and history of African Americans as part of Black History Month.

The program included an amazing and uplifting musical selection by Zana Hunt (D24 Class President).  Our students presented their black-owned businesses, showcasing their true creativity and entrepreneurship.

Dr. DeVonte Johnson (D21) shared his experiences as an entrepreneur and young dentist in the Atlanta,  GA area.  He highlighted how one needs to be authentic to oneself in this day of self-promotion and social media.

Dr Jason Cummins (D22) inspired us with his thoughts and reflections.  His message about the privilege we have to treat others resonated with his message about the responsibility of mentoring and helping the next generation.

Both report to being well-prepared for their careers; their maturity as caring and compassionate young health care professions makes us proud and warms our hearts.

Our students and alumni are the future of our profession and fulfill our vision of Global Leaders in Oral Health and our mission of care and community.

Thank you to SNDA leadership:
