What do we do?
The Digital Health Research Group at the Tufts University School of Medicine is focused on the design, adoption, and use of digital health technologies, including:
- Devices to support personal wellness and medication adherence
- Integration of device data into clinical care
- Design of social media campaigns for awareness and support
- And almost any topic at the intersection of technology and health
Who are we?
Led by Dr. Lisa Gualtieri, the group consists mostly of graduate students at Tufts University School of Medicine in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine. Many are master’s candidates in Health Informatics and Analytics or Public Health. The common theme is our passion to help more people live healthier and happier live aided by technology and our interest in research to accomplish this.
Dr. Gualtieri also runs the nonprofit RecycleHealth, which collects and refurbishes fitness trackers to donate to underserved populations. Although a separate venture, our research at times can be directly influenced by RecycleHealth, such as our collaboration with MGH on a wellness program Fitbit study. The Digital Health Research Group is very interested in the power of mHealth and positive health behavioral changes in underserved populations that have reduced access to such technology.
How can you get involved?
We encourage any interested graduate students or other potential collaborators to reach out! We are always happy to discuss opportunities or ideas in this field we are passionate about. Technological advances are accelerating the process of healthcare going digital, and we are part of shaping this future with our focus on technology to assist and support healthy living.
