Lisa Gualtieri, PhD, ScM, is an associate professor at Tufts University School of Medicine in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine. Dr. Gualtieri’s teaching and research focus on using digital health technologies to improve patient outcomes. Most recently, she has conducted research on improving medication adherence in the home, looking at storage practices, habit-stacking, and digital aids. Other projects focus on the use of wearable activity trackers with underserved populations; the integration of digital health data into clinical care; and the impact of digital literacy skills on adoption of digital health technologies by older adults.
Dr. Gualtieri is the founder of RecycleHealth, a nonprofit at Tufts that collects trackers to donate to underserved populations. Her work at RecycleHealth has led to awards, including the AARP Purpose Prize. Dr. Gualtieri serves on the FDA’s General Hospital and Personal Use Devices Panel and was previously consumer representative on the Arthritis Advisory Committee.
Dr. Gualtieri has a PhD in computer science from Harvard University, a ScM in computer science from Brown University, and a BA in mathematics from the University of Massachusetts. For fun, she is a runner and loves to swing dance when she can find live music.
