Abstract:

Occupational therapy plays a vital role in recovery. Victory Programs, Inc. (VPI) a non-profit organization for clients facing homelessness, addiction, and chronic health conditions lacks OT services. Understanding is needed of how OT consultation can complement and enhance existing recovery efforts. Project aimed to evaluate feasibility of outcomes study method for assessing effect of innovative model of OT consultation and potential value in supporting VPI program group participation. Results show low attendance rate per group (average 45%) and very variable attendance per participant (10-86%). However, participation median performance is ‘good’ per Pittsburgh Rating of Participation Scale scores, which serves as baseline understanding of group participation for VPI-Women’s Hope. More data and data analysis needed to understand complex variables affecting participation and attendance.
