Abstract:

Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) medication adherence and engagement in sexual risk behaviors have significant implications on HIV transmission risk and quality of life for people living with HIV (PLWH). This scoping review analyzed nine cross-sectional and two randomized control trials exploring ART adherence and sexual risk behaviors. Of the 11 studies, 9 (81.8%) depicted a strong relationship between lower medication adherence and increased engagement in sexual risk behaviors.
