Abstract:

Fostering professionalism in OT/A students is essential. The Professinal Development Monitor (Barnes & Evensan, 1995) was created to measure professionalism in OT/A fieldwork students. This project aimed to revise and update the PDM and study its psychometrics. The CDC’s nominal group technique (modified) was used with two focus groups of OT students (n=5) and faculty (n=3) for revision. After, OT educators (n=14) used the revised PDM via survey to evaluate videos of simulated OT sessions to study psychometrics. The revised PDM was qualitatively found to have strong usability. Inter-rater reliability (ICC) was found to be poor to fair across categories (-0.34 to .057) and internal consistency (Chronbach’s alpha) was high (0.929). This study highlight the benefits of the PDM and need for further revision.
