Happy New Year beautiful souls!
2016 is finally here, and as we kiss 2015 goodbye we are all left with the same question – what are our resolutions? A new year means a fresh start and a clean slate – the perfect time to make some changes and move forward into the best year we’ve ever had. Along with the usual goals, like going to the gym more, or studying more, I think it is just as important to check in about mental health. To evaluate how the past year went, and how we can make 2016 the year we are at our happiest and healthiest.
First, the reflection. How did 2015 go? What made you happy? What made you sad? What made you anxious? What made you laugh? What were the highs and what were the lows?
So what do we do with this information? I see it as two categories: things we should try to keep, and things we should try to change/improve. All of those things that made you happy/made you laugh/were highs are things that we want to pack 2016 full of. All of the things that made you sad/anxious/were lows are the things we want to identify the causes of and work to change.
Here are some mental health goals for 2016 – feel free to pick and choose what works for you, and by all means make your own. This is your year – own it, live it, kick its ass.
2016 Goals: laugh every day, spend lazy days in bed, eat your favorite food, breathe in fresh air, push yourself outside of your comfort zone, be successful (however you define it,) be trusting, be open to love, complain less, smile more, be kind, be patient, put yourself first, take bubble baths, pet dogs, etc.
Cheers to the new year!
