School of Engineering – First Year Engineering Design Challenge

This event is open to Tufts first year engineering students and students planning to take engineering at Tufts. The location is the Tufts Science and Engineering Complex (SEC) Atrium. With approximately 80 participants, there will be 12 tables used as stations for each participating group. Individual groups will be responsible for brainstorming, designing, and implementing a “transfer of energy” system within their individual table, while considering the “triggering” of the tables before/after their own.

The event will comprise of allotted areas (called Connector Zones) between each corresponding build zone/area. At the connector zones, there will be build experts (upperclassmen mentors) stationed for help with troubleshooting, additional help with the building, brainstorming, etc. These experts/mentors shall also help in facilitating the transition from one zone to another by constantly collaborating with the first-year zone builders.
