Location: There is some opportunity to work out of our Somerville satellite location, but the internship is based primarily in Danvers.
Job Description: Are you a college journalism major looking for real world opportunities to cover stories and get experience? Are you a liberal arts student who has worked at a college newspaper or has strong Internet skills? Are you deeply interested in government and politics? Are you an inquisitive person who enjoys learning about a variety of people and subjects? Do you want an opportunity to get coaching and experience that can position you better for future employment opportunities? Do you have a reliable way to get yourself to our Danvers office?
If the answer to two or more of these questions is yes, then you may want to consider applying for an internship opportunity with GateHouse Media, the largest local media company in Eastern Mass. With a network of 20 websites and local newspapers out of our Danvers location, we have nearby opportunities for interns who are looking to gain real world experience and mentoring.
Internships are available in the following categories: news reporting and writing; arts and lifestyles writing; copyediting; website management; and photography.
Many individuals who have gone through our program have been able to secure full-time opportunities with our company or elsewhere within the media business. Mentoring and training opportunities, as well as ongoing feedback and the opportunity to be published are among the opportunities we offer.
Qualifications: Candidates will need to have some kind of opportunity for academic credit or transcript notation in order to qualify for these unpaid internships.
