Center for Governance and Sustainability Call for Interns

The Center for Governance and Sustainability at UMass Boston is looking for an intern to assist the Managing Editor of the Center’s Issue Briefs publication. The Issue Briefs are periodic papers on topical issues in environmental governance. They follow a specific format that is designed to be accessible and intelligible to anyone interested in international environmental affairs. The Issue Briefs are receiving an increasing amount of exposure, and were distributed to every UN country delegation before the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development in June, 2012.

We are looking for a motivated intern to work between 5 and 10 hours a week, depending on proximity to each issue release.

Responsibilities: assisting with fundraising; donor relations; author relations; grant writing; and editing.

Requirements: college junior or senior, or recent graduate; excellent writing and editing skills (applicants will be tested during the interview); basic web and Microsoft Office literacy; strong interpersonal relations; ability to consistently meet deadlines.

Compensation: unpaid; intern will be visibly credited on each publication.

Timeframe: applications should be received by September 12th, interviews will be conducted as applications are received.
Candidates from the Boston area will be preferred, but all should apply.

Applications should forward their resume and an email with more information about themselves to Michael Denney: michael@environmentalgovernance.org

Selected applicants will be contacted to set up an interview time.
