The RISE (Readiness through Integrative Science and Engineering) project is looking for master’s students, recent BA graduates, and senior students to serve as research assistants. This is a part-time 20 hour a week paid position that will last for the fall semester (12 weeks excluding the week of Thanksgiving).

Position Overview:
The Research Assistant will have an opportunity to develop qualitative research skills through coding and analyzing videos on parent engagement meetings and teachers’ professional development workshops. As a RA, you will enhance your knowledge on working with Head Start children, families, and teachers involved in a university-community research partnership. Through this opportunity, you will be trained to use one of the most frequently used qualitative data analysis software, ATLAS.ti.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills required:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Public Health, or a closely related field. Masters-level students are encouraged to apply.
2. Fluency in English and in Spanish or Chinese (Cantonese) is
3. Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
4. Enjoys working in a team
5. Interest in child development, science technology and engineering curriculum, dual language learners or family engagement in preschool setting.
