Design and Communications Internship — Second Nature
Second Nature is seeking applicants for a Design and Communications Internship that may include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:
- Designing images and documents for the Second Nature website, publications, and the upcoming 2017 Presidential Climate Leadership Summit.
- Assisting with publication of monthly newsletter
- Website content maintenance (WordPress site)
- Database maintenance, including updating and research of contacts
- Some writing including blogs and social media engagement
- Other tasks as assigned
Candidate requirements:
- Knowledge of basic office functions and programs, such as the Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel and Power Point)
- Good domain of Adobe Creative Suite programs (particularly Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign)
- Knowledge and experience with WordPress (or similar CMS)
- Excellent communication skills
- Creative problem solving skills
- Ability to contribute to the growth of the organization through new skills, insights, and creative ideas
Outstanding candidates may possess some of the following:
- Experience with email marketing platforms (such as Constant Contact or MailChimp)
- Familiarity with database/customer management software (such as Salesforce)
- Familiarity with html code
- Video editing skills
- Passion for, and experience in, sustainability
Position Details:
Second Nature offers a dynamic and creative work environment with a customized experience for each intern designed to be challenging and build desired skill sets. Interns are involved in team meetings and planning efforts. This position reports to the Communications and Education Manager.
This position requires a working presence at Second Nature’s Downtown Boston offices. The work schedule is flexible, but entails a commitment of approximately 10-16 hours a week, with direct supervision from Second Nature staff. This is a paid internship, and can also be completed for credit. The internship is for a period of 3-6 months, depending on candidate availability. This internship would start in late October or ealier if available.
Who Should Apply:
Students in certificate, associate, bachelor’s, and graduate degree programs are invited to apply. A formal background in design, communications, or marketing is strongly encouraged, but not required. A background or interest in global studies, sustainability and/or climate change is helpful, but not required. Women and minority applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
