Position Summary:
Farm / Horticulture Internship at CCE-NC’s DPF 4H Camp
Farm located at:
3186 Sound Ave. Riverhead, NY
We offer meaningful, unpaid or paid internship experiences in the Farming and
Horticulture field to gain hands on experience.
The DPF 4H Farm is located at the Dorothy P. Flint 4H Camp located in
Riverhead NY. We
are currently farming approximately 5 acres of the 140 acre property that also houses our sleep-away camp.
Internship Responsibilities:
- Sowing
- Transplanting
- Weeding
- Watering
- Harvesting
- Haying
- Animal care (chickens, ducks, sheep, goats and rabbits)
Qualifications / Special Skills / Areas of Study:
- Minimum 18 year of age or older
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to work under adverse weather conditions
- Previous farm experience or working in an outdoor environment
Special Considerations:
- Rotating schedule including some weekends
- Internship availability May – August
Salary Range:
$2,000- $4,000. Depending on length of internship and number of hours agreed upon.
Benefits:
Housing to be provided during length of internship. Meals provided while camp is in session. Educational opportunities at EMF and Cornell Research Lab across the street.
