Submit a Workshop Idea for the SMFA Health, Safety, and Sustainability Day!
To honor artist and former SMFA teacher Julie Graham, who recently passed away due to lung cancer, the Sustainability Committee is organizing the second Health, Safety and Sustainability Day on Wednesday March 4th, 2020.
Students, alumni, staff and faculty members are invited to submit proposals for workshops to be held that day. Workshops can be either offered by individuals or small groups of collaborators. Collaborations between art specialists and science/engineering specialists are welcome.
Through the workshops, participants will learn about sustainable and less-toxic techniques and materials for art-making. Hands-on activities are preferred. During the first HSS Day, workshops engaged with a wide range of practices, from knitting to painting with natural dyes, sustainable alternatives in photography and ergonomic safety.
