Story Maps Editor/Technical Expert
Job Description
Are you a GIS aficionado who can’t resist creating visually stunning and interactive stories? Have you been using ArcGIS/Esri Story Maps to spice up the presentation of data research or travel diaries? Do you like playing with Data Visualization software? If yes, then gear up to be a part of the Journeys Project. You will help create first-of-its-kind interactive Story Maps experience by translating worldwide migration research at the Fletcher School.
Responsibilities
- Utilize ArcGIS/Esri StoryMaps to create innovative, high-quality stories and visually compelling maps and graphics as examples of excellent storytelling
- Collaborate closely with team members, to create, refine, publish, and update story maps content and site
- Create data visualizations and infographics to be embedded in Story Maps and social media strategy.
- Help creating links between multiple Story Maps to create an immersive web of journeys linked to each other
- Offer suggestions during creative meetings to imagine the best template(s) to tell a given story. Combine, twist, or create new templates to suit a story
Requirements
- High-level proficiency in using ArcGIS/Esri Story Maps
- Expertise in one or more data visualization software
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
- Visual and Design literacy
- Availability of at least 7-10 hours/week
- Resourceful and a powerful communicator
- A passion for excellence and willingness to go the extra mile to develop high-impact stories
