UPenn Think Tank and Civil Societies Program Internship

by Ivara J. Roth on January 30, 2021

I am writing on behalf of the Think Tank and Civil Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania. We are currently recruiting interns to join the Environment Team, where the focus is on producing a comprehensive report on environmental think tanks around the world — which I think may be of interest to students in the Environmental Studies Program at Tufts.

The mission of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) is to increase the profile, capacity, and performance of think tanks at the national, regional, and global levels so they can better serve policymakers and the public. TTCSP conducts research on the relationship between think tanks, politics, and public policy. It produces the annual Global Go To Think Tank Index, develops capacity-building resources and programs, manages and supports a global network of close to 7000 think tanks, and trains future think tank scholars and executives. TTCSP is often referred to as the ‘think tank’s, think tank’.

Students should expect to put in 10-15 hours of work per week for this internship. Interns can expect to collect data, conduct literature reviews, update contact databases and more.

It is an unpaid internship but the work is rewarding and the program has produced many interns who have gone on to successfully gain admission to various prestigious graduate programs and careers. Interns will form professional relationships with their fellow interns throughout their time in the program and will be able to hear from guest speakers from different fields weekly.

If any of your students are interested, they can contact our Intern Coordinator, Bianca Serbin at ttcsp.interncoordinator@gmail.com, and copy the Environment Team Project Lead, Zoe Shinefield (zshinefiel@brynmawr.edu), in the email.
