Communications and Outreach Coordinator – Apply by Sep 15

Wage range: $15 – $18/hr. based on qualifications
SEMAP (Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership, semaponline.org) is dedicated to preserving and expanding access to local food and sustainable farming in southeastern Massachusetts through research and education. We serve farms, farmers, and the communities of southeastern Massachusetts with our primary service area covering Bristol, Norfolk, and Plymouth counties.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications and Outreach Coordinator will manage SEMAP’s newsletters, social media, event tabling, website, and membership, as well as contribute to a project to better connect farmers and low-income communities. SEMAP values lived experience in any aspects of our work. This person will represent SEMAP as an initial point of contact to the broader community in variety of settings. This is a full-time hourly position with occasional weekend/evening work, requires access to transportation, and the ability to work remotely.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Create and maintain SEMAP’s external outreach and communications –
newsletters, social media, website, printed materials, and other media
projects including video
2) Membership – sending renewal reminders and member packets, new member outreach, development database maintenance, member communications
3) Contribute to the “Welcoming Markets” grant project connecting low-income communities to local food and other grant-funded projects as needed
4) Help coordinate major events
5) Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Knowledge of and commitment to the nonprofit sector, local food, food
access, and/or sustainable farming
2) Strong organizational, verbal, and written skills
3) Personable, energetic, flexible, and able to maintain a high level of
confidentiality
4) Experience communicating to specific audiences across various media, such as social media, public speaking
5) Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic work situation as well as
work individually and self-manage
6) Knowledge of WordPress, ConstantContact or MailChimp, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Google shared documents; eTapestry or similar development software experience a plus, willing to train if needed
7) Understanding of community outreach and familiarity with local
organizations working with low-income communities such as social service
providers and neighborhood community groups
8) Event planning, graphic design, or program coordination experience
desirable
