Firefly Conservation Research Position
This is an independent studies or internship project during the semester working with Sara Lewis & Michael Reed on US firefly conservation. Over the past year, they’ve completed IUCN Red Listing for~140 US firefly species, including 18 habitat specialists which are threatened. They are hoping to create maps of suitable habitat to inform future on-the-ground surveys by community science teams. We’d like the student(s) to either have taken Advanced GIS or have some experience beyond intro GIS. Students will also be working with the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation and the New Mexico BioPark Society.
