Lab Technician
Hello all,
Florida International University, Institute of Environment, is looking for a lab technician with chemistry background to work in a NELAC certified Nutrient Analysis Core Facility.
The job duties of this position will include but not limit to:
- Use advanced analytical instrument to perform nutrient analysis in environmental samples (mostly water samples) following laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform basic instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Follow the laboratory quality assurance (QA) plan and NELAC requirements, and keep good record and documentation.
- Environmental samples preparation, reagent preparation, glassware cleaning and routine laboratory supports.
- Data management and formatting
Preferred knowledge:
- Minimal: Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or related areas. Some analytical instrument experience from undergraduate classes. Basic computer skills, especially Excel. Good communication skills. Patient and detailed with record keeping.
- Preferred: Master degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or related areas. 0-2 years of analytical instrument experience or related lab experience. Basic knowledge of QA/QC and NELAC requirement is a plus.
Job is temporary with a potential to be full time benefited university staff.
