Urban Beekeeper (Chicago)

You have an active lifestyle and love working outside? You’re a hands-on
learner with a passion for education? Want to be part of a movement? Up for a challenge? Alvéole is hiring an urban beekeeper to lead workshops and maintain all of our hives in Chicago in 2019-2020 with the opportunity to grow within the following seasons.

Tasks:
Assist your Director with startup logistics, including renovations and
equipment organization
Be part of a team of beekeepers in your city
Maintain over 100 hives, including rooftop installation of new hives, routine maintenance, pest and parasite control, and harvest of 100 LB+ boxes of honey
Build relationships with individuals, schools, businesses and other
organizations through educational workshops, events, and one-on-one sessions
Follow standard operating procedures to ensure quality service, practices, and client experience
Participate in a two-week beekeeping training program outside the city
Be the face of Alvéole

The ideal candidate has the following:
Driver’s license
Thorough knowledge of the city
Passion for teaching and customer service
Knowledge of beekeeping principles
Desire to learn about urban beekeeping practices
Resourcefulness and physical endurance
Availability for two weeks of intensive training outside the city
Availability as of April 29th, 2019

Terms of employment:
Contract runs April 29th 2019 to April 28th, 2020
