The “Eye on STEAM: Focus on Engineering” Conference is for K-8 educators who are committed to leveraging hands-on engineering and leading classroom activities that support a wide profile of learners in pursuing STEAM learning. Emphasis is on populations of students who are typically underrepresented in STEAM, but conference content is applicable to all K-8 students. The conference is a collaboration between local, practicing classroom educators, Tufts University Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO), and Acera Education Innovation (AceraEI).
The conference will feature small group discussions and hands-on, “minds-on” workshops. Discussions and workshops will be led by members of AceraEI, Tufts CEEO, and other local educators, and will focus on engineering education pedagogy and activities that can be immediately implemented in classrooms. Workshops and discussions will build on a broad definition of engineering as “applying understanding of the world in pursuit of solutions to problems.”
There is no cost associated with the conference. Lunch will be provided. Enrollment is limited to fifty participants. There is an opportunity for PDP/CEU credits.
*The conference is made possible by support from anonymous donors who are committed to expanding equity of access to engineering education.
Registration will open mid-January.
