Cultural Heritage in Law and Diplomacy: A Roundtable Discussion
The Fletcher Initiative on Religion, Law, and Diplomacy is proud to present – in cooperation with the Fresno State Armenian Studies Program, St. John’s University Center for Law & Religion, and the University of Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture – “Cultural Heritage in Law and Diplomacy: A Roundtable Discussion.” This webinar brings together a cross-discplinary group of scholar-practitioners to discuss the challenges of and opportunities for preserving the rights of access to places of worship for religious groups in cases of contested spaces and in diverse conditions of active and non-active conflict. Religious Minorities and the Right to Self Determination
There are increasingly urgent, sometimes frozen, conflicts, including belligerent occupation, around the world that involve an elevated risk of genocide at the hands of the state for the minority religious enclaves involved. Understanding the complexities of this tension can help inform policy-makers to employ best practices and further diplomatic goals and human rights outcomes.
