Religious Minorities and the Right to Self Determination

There are increasingly urgent, sometimes frozen, conflicts, including belligerent occupation, around the world that involve an elevated risk of genocide at the hands of the state for the minority religious enclaves involved. Understanding the complexities of this tension can help inform policy-makers to employ best practices and further diplomatic goals and human rights outcomes. The Fletcher Initiative on Religion, Law, and Diplomacy, organized by the Student Club on Religion, Law, and Diplomacy, is proud to present a panel on these timely rights considerations, with Yazidi Human Rights Lawyer and Journalist Khdr Hayjoyan, Kashmiri Anthropologist and Activist Mohamad Junaid, Tufts University Arthur H. Dadian and Ara Oztemel Professor of Armenian Art and Architectural History Dr. Christina Maranci, and University of San Francisco Professor of Politics and International Relations Dr. Stephen Zunes, moderated by Dr. Anahid Matossian.
