Clarissa started work as a bank supervisor in 1991 until 2008 when she was transferred to the Payment Systems Operations of the Banking Department. In Banking Supervision, she was directly responsible for reviewing banking license applications. In addition, she licensed five foreign banks which are currently doing satisfactorily. She was also involved in bank products and services reviews as well as development of policy papers for the consideration of management. Clarissa was also involved in the drafting of rules and regulations, as well as onsite examinations and off site surveillance. In the payment systems office she was involved in drafting rules, operational guidelines, and regulations for the various payment systems operators/participants such as cheques clearing, automated clearinghouse, etc. She became the deputy head in the new Payment Systems Department that was established in August 2016. Clarissa is directly responsible for the financial inclusion and Consumer empowerment office. She is one of the Bank’s representatives on the national financial inclusion strategy task force. She is currently a co-chair of the Digital Financial Services Working Group.
