Herbert Asiimwe

Herbert Asiimwe has been the Director of Banking and Non-Banking in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning of the Republic of Rwanda since December 2013.
At the time of his appointment as the Director of Banking and Non-Banking, he was serving as a Pension and Insurance Sector Specialist from May 2009 to December 2013 at the Ministry. He has designed and implemented a number of financial sector deepening and inclusion policies, strategies, studies, and innovations in Rwanda. Prior to being the Pension and Insurance Sector Specialist, he worked as a Senior Project Manager in Rwanda Development Board (RDB). He improved the project planning and management processes in RDB, and coordinated formulation of projects and monitored their implementation. Mr. Asiimwe holds a Masters (MA) in Economic Policy and Management from the Makerere University (MUK) Kampala Uganda. He also holds a B.A Economics Degree from Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. Lastly, he represents the Government of Rwanda as a board member on one of the Government Parastatals Rice Companies and a Trustee for Rwanda National Investment Trust.
