Juan Carlos Chong is the Head of the Education and Financial Inclusion Department of the Market Conduct and Financial Inclusion Deputy Superintendence at the Peruvian Superintendence of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Funds (SBS). In his role, he leads all financial education initiatives and programs at the SBS as well as coordinates at institutional level and with other external actors, different initiatives to enhance financial inclusion in the country. He participates in the institutional Financial Inclusion Committee and in the Peruvian Multisectoral Financial Inclusion Committee. He also has been appointed as a representative of the SBS in the Financial Inclusion Data Working Group at Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) and in the Technical Committee and in the Sub-Group of the Role of Financial Education in the Financial Inclusion at the OECD International Network for Financial Education (OECD-INFE). Mr. Chong has an extensive experience in banking regulation and supervision, financial system analysis, risk management and monitoring and evaluation. He has held several positions in different international organizations such as Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, the International Finance Corporation, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Inter-American Investment Corporation as well as in commercial banks such as Banco de Credito del Peru and Banco Latino. He holds a Master Degree in Public Administration and a Master of Arts in International Relations from The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University in New York, USA, a Master in Finance at the Universidad del Pacifico in Peru and a Licentiature in Economics at the Universidad de Lima in Peru.
