Kabinda Kakoma Kawesha is a Specialist – Financial Sector Development, at the Bank of Zambia and is currently serving as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Governor – Administration. She has an extensive professional career in the prudential supervision, risk management and regulation of commercial banks at the Bank of Zambia (BoZ); commercial banking at Banc ABC; and the provision of assurance/audit and corporate advisory services for corporate clients at PricewaterhouseCoopers. In recent years, the scope of her professional work at Bank of Zambia has veered towards financial sector development and financial inclusion, with an emphasis on mobile financial services (this includes serving as the BoZ representative on the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) Mobile Financial Services Working Group) and financial literacy, where she served as the Programme Coordinator of the Financial Education Coordinating Unit which was established to coordinate the implementation of the National Strategy for Financial Education in Zambia. During 2014, Kabinda has participated in several initiatives of the Bank of Zambia to champion gender mainstreaming in the financial sector, and these were also highlighted at the Alliance for Financial Inclusion 2014 Global Policy Forum during a session on Gender Dimension of Financial Inclusion Policy Making. Kabinda studied Accountancy and holds a BAcc, ACCA and an MSc Finance & Financial Law. In her leisure time, she enjoys cycling, reading, landscaping and serves as a mentor in a women’s leadership programme.
