Econo’food potluck 2025, back home edition
Our 11th annual class potluck was back at home! To see the context, check out posts on previous events featuring delicious contributions to a healthy diet that could be: (a) most convenient, (b) most culturally significant, (c) lowest environmental impact, or (d) lowest monetary cost. Last year’s event was held after class in Jaharis — you can check out videos & photos from 2024 here.
This year, student explanations of their dishes start with Olivia Wu’s quick quinoa salad in the convenient category, and Tamar Stollman’s challah to celebrate gathering on Friday night:
Next up, two frugal and culturally significant dishes: Coralie Knight’s Belgian stoemp (potatoes and vegetables), and Ana Lopes’ Brazilian vinagrete bean salad:
Then a series of various dishes, from Alex Kaplan, Julia Markmann, Zoe Levitan, Camila Sanchez, Haley Flint and Sam Magrath:
Then, our esteemed faculty judges! In sequence we heard from Khris Nicholas on cultural significance, LaPorchia Collins on convenience, Bea Rogers on environmental impacts, and Parke Wilde on lowest-cost options — click those links for their insightful and fun comments on each dish.
Also — apologies to participants in last year’s potluck held after class in Jaharis. I hope to make a post for that one too, but in the meantime here’s an album of videos and photos from our 2023 potluck.
