Academic Programs/Curricula

Agriculture, Food, and Environment – The AFE program is heavily related to food systems. Areas of specialization within the program include agricultural development, community development and organizing, food risk assessment, and resource economics.

Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition – The BMN program is not directly related to food systems. However, a strong food system includes science-derived guidance for and knowledge of what is a healthful diet.

Food and Nutrition Policy and Programs – The FANPP Program offers interdisciplinary training for students to improve food policy and food security and nutrition outcomes in industrialized and developing countries. These areas of study are integral to food systems.

Nutrition Epidemiology and Data Science – The NEDS program is designed to train students in the design, implementation, and analysis of epidemiologic studies that address questions of the role of dietary intake and nutritional status in disease prevention. This work is necessary to understand the gaps and strengths of a food system.

Nutrition Interventions, Communications, and Behavior Change – Merging nutrition science, health communication, and behavior change, this program prepares graduates to address the most pressing health and nutrition challenges facing our communities and societies.
