November 2018 FWN Newsletter

Dear Fletcher Women,

Warm greetings from the Fletcher Women’s Network!  We plan to reach out to our broad membership four times a year to keep you abreast of FWN news and encourage your participation in our events, activities, and major initiatives.

Fletcher Women’s Network Blog Launch

Keep an eye out for the upcoming launch of FWN’s new blog.  Intended as a space for Fletcher women to share their professional experiences, challenges, and successes, the blog will be released soon and announced on our social media pages!

Events

Conference on Gender and International Affairs

Please join FWN on November 16 & 17, 2018, at the Fletcher School’s fourth annual Conference on Gender and International Affairs: Gender, Justice, and Politics: Movement from the Margins. This is one of the few academic spaces exploring the intersection of identity, particularly gender, with all realms of international affairs and foreign policy. The conference is open to the public (and free!) if you or anyone you know in the Boston area is interested in attending.

For more information about the conference, panels, and speakers, please visit the event website

Convene and Represent FWN at Events

If you’re traveling and getting together with Fletcherites or attending Fletcher-type events, reach out to FWN and let us know so that we can support local groups to have a presence or just connect with other Fletcher women. For instance, will you be in Sharm El-Sheikh for the Biodiversity COP? Or in Katowice for COP24?  Post on our Facebook page and find some old and new Fletcher friends who will be also there and get together.

Calls to Action!

Support the Conference on Gender and International Affairs

The conference is completely student-led and organized, however this also means it is reliant on donations for funding. If you would like to donate, you can contribute here.

Seeking Social Media Curators

FWN is excited to announce that we are launching a new guest editor program for our Facebook and LinkedIn pages. We are recruiting two editors a quarter for each page to post content around the theme of Women in Leadership.

As a guest editor, you will find interesting and engagement-driven articles, videos, and other newsworthy items related to Fletcher, women in international affairs (security, economics, technology, gender related topics, development, etc.), and other relevant topics to post on our social media pages. Examples of engagement-worthy postings can be (but are not exclusive to) job postings, news articles relating to international affairs and women in international affairs, polls and surveys, upcoming Fletcher, Tufts and community events you may be aware of, promoting the work of Fletcher women alumni.

If you are interested in serving as a guest editor, please contact Judy Dunbar (dunbarjs@gmail.com) and Jennifer Haworth-McCandless (j.haworth.mccandless@sidley.com).

Happy Holidays!
