Two Papillae in the Rumen of a Goat

Two papillae in the rumen of a goat. Each papilla has a keratinized stratified epithelium over a core of connective tissue that is continuous with the lamina propria. Note the absence of muscularis mucosae. Thus the lamina propria blends with the submucosa, forming a propria submucosa. Surgical no. 99-190764. 2966-21. PK0247. H&E. Original mag. 10x. Rumen. Forestomach. Digestive System. Goat.
