Smooth muscle wall of a small artery in the rumen of a goat
Organ: Forestomach, Tissue: Artery, Species: Goat. Comments: Longitudinal section of a small artery found in the fatty tissue of a goat’s forestomach. The nuclei of the endothelial cells are arranged along the long axis of the vessel. The smooth muscle cells in the tunica media were cut at cross sections. Nuclei are seen only in those fibers that were cut close to the middle of the spindle-shaped cells. Compare the size of the surrounding adipocytes with that of the smooth muscle cells.
