Trabecular Artery in Canine Spleen
The trabecular artery has a distinctive tunica media made up of smooth muscle cells. It also has a tunica adventitia which stains blue in this picture. Surround this is the fibromuscular stroma of the trabecula. Arterial blood enters the spleen from the capsule via the trabecular artery. Branches of the artery leave the trabeculae and become arteries of the white pulp. Original mag. 66x. Mason’s trichrome. Trabecular artery. Spleen. Lymphoid System. Dog.
