Non-glandular Portion of Horse Stomach, Margo Plicatus

At the margo plicatus the nonglandular, stratified squamous epithelium of the forestomach ends, and the simple columnar epithelium of the cardiac glands of the region of the stomach begins. There is an isolated lymphoid nodule in the glandular area, this is part of the MALT, the mucosa associated lymphoid tissue, part of the body’s defense mechanism. Surgical no. 99-182941. 2966-107.
