Primordial follicles in feline ovary.

Beneath the surface epithelium of the ovary is a thick layer of dense connective tissue, the tunica albuginea. The primordial oocytes cluster together in a cellular stroma. Each primordial follicle contains an oocyte surrounded by a flat layer of follicular cells.
