Corpus luteum, low power.

This low power micrograph shows part of a corpus luteum. The atrium and the fluid inside has disappeared as the granulosa and thecal lutein cells proliferate and increase in size. The cells of the corpus luteum are arranged in folds which takes up a large space in the ovary.
