Glomerulus with vasculoar and urinary poles.

In one of the two renal corpuscles in this section you can see both the vascular pole and the urinary pole. The visceral layer of the Bowmen’s capsule is made up of podocytes which cannot be resolved in a paraffin section like this one. The parietal layer of the glomerular capsule is made up of simple squamous epithelium. This changes abruptly into simple cuboidal at the urinary pole and forms the beginning of the proxiaml convoluted tubule. Note the macula densa and the associated distal convoluted tubule at the vascular pole. Oirginal mag. 100x. PAS-Hematoxylin. Kidney cortex. Urinary System. Cat.
