Multidisciplinary teams

To provide comprehensive mental health care to low-income household children, paraprofessionals such as family navigators, family support workers, or professionals working with children with special needs need to be included in care teams. An intervention to model from is the collaborative care model, where primary care providers, care managers, and psychiatric consultants work together to provide care and monitor patients’ progress. This model has achieved improved clinical outcomes and reduced costs for a variety of mental health conditions in a variety of settings (1).
