The Institute for Global Leadership and the Fletcher School Present: A Conversation Series on Tackling Systemic Racism
July 24, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm UTC+0
The brutal killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis sparked global protests against systemic racism in the United States and around the world. The Covid-19 pandemic has also highlighted the racial disparities in health with disproportionately high death rates among African Americans and other minorities. Racial discrimination is deeply embedded in the political, economic and social structures of many societies.
The Series aims to contribute to the long-overdue national and global conversation about historical and persistent racial injustice and inequality. The dialogue on these vital issues will challenge everyone to take action to address the long and destructive legacy of racism, and promote a more just and equitable world for all.
The Conversation Series will advance the Institute for Global Leadership’s mission to educate new generations of effective and ethical leaders who are able to understand the world’s most challenging problems. The Fletcher School is committed to educating leaders to further a legacy of enacting lasting and meaningful change in the world.
The Virtual Conversation will take place on Friday, July 24, 2020, 1:00-2:00 p.m. EDT on Zoom. Mr. Lammy will address the topic “Black Lives Matter, Justice and the UK”.
Moderator: Professor Abi Williams, Director of IGL and Professor of the Practice of International Politics at The Fletcher School.
