CDR Kevin Meehan

Commander Kevin P. Meehan, United States Navy

Originally from Brightwaters, New York, CDR Meehan was commissioned from the United States Naval Academy in 1999 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Oceanography. He holds a Masters Degree in Executive Leadership from Duquesne University and a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College. He is a graduate of the United States Naval War College’s Maritime Advanced Warfighting School.

At sea, his assignments include Amphibious Operations Officer and OI Division Officer in USS PELELIU (LHA 5), Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer in USS CURTS (FFG 38), Chief Engineer in USS BAINBRIDGE (DDG 96) and Material Officer in Destroyer Squadron Two Eight. Executive Officer in USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2) and Commanding Officer of USS GABRIELLE GIFFORDS (LCS-10).

Ashore, he served on the staff of Commander, Task Force Six Three – Military Sealift Command, Europe, the staff of Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet in the Plans section as an Operational Planner, and the NATO Allied Command Transformation-Staff Element, Europe as the Ballistic Missile Defense Officer and Strategic Planner.

Commander Meehan’s military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
