On November 3rd, Tufts sQ!, which bills itself as “Tufts’ freshest co-ed a cappella group,” performed its fall show in Goddard Chapel. The group has four new members this year, and they performed a set of several new songs as well as some old favorites. In this video, sQ! does its sassy take on the Elton John favorite, “Benny and the Jets,” with Emma Hershey, A14, as soloist.

No no, don’t worry! Their incredible singing hasn’t declined at all! It’s just the name of their fall 2011 show. Concerned? Well see it for yourself, Tufts SQ! is still going strong and they have this explosive a capella cover of Heart’s Barracuda to prove it. Props on the a cappella guitar solos!
Tufts’ sQ! recently performed in their annual Spring Show. The co-ed a capella group rocked out to hits like “Oh Atlanta” by Bad Company and Elvis’ “Can’t Help Fallin’ in Love.”

Ever wish that your morning commute was a little less dull? Enter Tufts a cappella sensation sQ! to a crowded MBTA Red Line train, bringing joy to riders (whether they like it or not). The experience was recorded and has been posted on YouTube and UniversalHub. The group did a rendition of summer hit “Ridin’ Solo” by Jason Derulo.

Kristen Ford (E’ 13) provided her pipes as the soloist in this arrangement. In January, the group’s arrangement of “That’s What you Get” by Paramore was selected to be one of 20 groups to be featured on the Best of College A Cappella (BOCA) 2010. The album also features selections from the Jackson Jills and the Beelzebubs.
