Students interested in working with the LEEFE Lab should email Dr. Laura Corlin (laura.corlin@tufts.edu). Please include a brief statement about your research and career interests, a writing sample, and your resume or CV.

Necessary skills and experience include:

  • Strong interest in learning about environmental health, environmental epidemiology, exposure assessment, cardiovascular epidemiology, and/or epidemiological methods
  • Enjoy reading, analyzing, and synthesizing scientific literature
  • Excited to learn about the research process
  • Self-starter/highly motivated
  • Able to identify problems and brainstorm potential solutions
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Earned at least a B+ in at least one course from three of the following categories:
    • Introductory epidemiology (e.g., PH-201, CEE-154/CH-154)
    • Intermediate epidemiology or epidemiology methods (e.g., PH-251, CEE-155, longitudinal data analysis methods)
    • Topical epidemiology (environmental, cardiovascular, chronic disease; e.g., PH-240)
    • Introductory biostatistics (e.g., PH-205, CEE-6/CH-136)
    • Intermediate or higher biostatistics (e.g., PH-206, analysis of clustered data/PH-701, applied survival analysis)
    • GIS (e.g., PH-262, CEE-187, GIS-101/ENV-107, DLS-275/UEP-232) or remote sensing (e.g., CEE-189)
    • Stata, SAS, or R programming and/or data management (e.g., PH-265, CH-110)
    • Environmental visualization and/or analysis of environmental health data (e.g., CEE-136, CEE-152)
    • Environmental engineering (air pollution control/CEE-136, exposure assessment)
    • Environmental toxicology (e.g., CEE-157) and/or professional experience with pathway enrichment analysis (e.g., KEGG, HMDB)
