Dr. Davis became interested in air pollution during a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard School of Public Health. Her contributions to the Harvard-based Trucking Industry Particle Study have largely focused on the development of statistical tools to understand exposure to diesel and ultimately lung cancer in truckers. The work of this team was instrumental to the recent reclassification of diesel by the World Health Organization as a known human carcinogen. More recently, Dr. Davis has broadened the scope of her work to explore the impact of air quality in the developing world, and presently has a paper under review highlighting the issue in Haiti.
