Education Specialist

The National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, is seeking a
well-rounded Education Specialist to help design and present teacher professional
development programs as part of the Museum’s national outreach to K-12 teachers.
Duties will include researching and writing teacher professional development
materials, teaching live workshops both in person and online, developing learning
activities, creating content for the Museum’s social media channels, and coordinating
partnerships with school districts as well assisting the project team with logistics and
administrative tasks. The position will require approximately one week of travel per
month to sites across the United States.

Applicants must demonstrate:

Skill and experience in teaching both small and large groups of learners
(especially adult learners.)

Skill and experience in researching and writing educational materials such
as: lesson plans, learning activities, interactives, short audio-video scripts or
Web-based educational content.

Knowledge of current learning theories and K-12 teaching practices in
the classroom and online, as well as the daily challenges and professional
development needs of educators.

Knowledge of the range of interactive technologies and their potential use for
educational programming.

Knowledge of social media and online communications practices.

Experience serving as an effective member of a project team.

This is a full-time, 2-year non-federal position (renewable). Salary is $ 51,630.00
