The Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks (Landmarks) owns and/or operates four historic house museums in Philadelphia and surrounding area (Grumblethorpe, Powel House, Physick House and Historic Waynesborough), as well as additional tourism and education programming including Landmarks Tours, Landmarks Elderhostel, Landmarks Contemporary Projects and Learning with Landmarks. Education Publicity Intern

Interests: History, Education, Publicity, Program Development

Description: The Landmarks Education Director seeks a bright and diligent student to assist with all aspects of Education Programming. Intern will gain hands on experience in all aspects of museum education programming and insight into the workings of a non-profit organization. In particular, the intern will assist with publicity and marketing for Learning with Landmarks Education Programs including contacting schools, writing & sending press releases; updating school and press contacts lists and developing a photo file. As needed and agreed upon with supervisor, intern will also assist with additional education program needs and events.

Qualifications:
Excellent writing skills and phone manner, interest in teaching (experience a plus), excellent organizational ability and attention to detail, ability to work independently within a given framework and a team player.

Skills developed: Program administration and development, advertising, public relations, marketing

Reports to: Education Program Director
Start Date: Anytime
Time Commitment: 6-12 hours per week, hours to be arranged with supervisor between 8-5, Mon-Fri, occasional evening and weekend hours possible
